Community Managed Savings Groups (CMSGs)

The Community Managed Savings Groups (CMSGs) initiative implemented by Maasai Pastoralist Devote Initiatives (MPDI) aims to strengthen the economic and social well-being of rural communities.

CMSGs bring community members together to form small savings and loan groups where members regularly save money and access small loans to support income-generating activities. These groups are managed collectively by community members, promoting transparency, accountability, and cooperation.

MPDI provides training and tools to help members manage their savings groups effectively. This includes financial management, record keeping, and group governance. Through these groups, families are able to invest in small businesses, agriculture, livestock, or education for their children.

CMSGs also strengthen community solidarity and empower members, particularly women, by giving them greater control over financial decisions and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
