Improvement of Formal Schools

The Improvement of Formal Schools project implemented by Maasai Pastoralist Devote Initiatives (MPDI) focuses on enhancing access to quality education for children in pastoralist communities in Monduli and Longido Districts.

Many schools in rural areas face challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited learning materials, and weak school governance systems. To address these issues, MPDI works closely with local government authorities, teachers, school committees, and community members to strengthen the education system.

The project supports the construction and improvement of classrooms, teachers’ offices, latrines, and water facilities to create a safe and conducive learning environment. In addition, MPDI provides training and mentorship to teachers to improve classroom practices and promote learner-centered teaching methods.

Community participation is also an important component of the project. Parents and community leaders are encouraged to take an active role in supporting school development and monitoring children’s progress. Through these efforts, MPDI contributes to improving enrolment, retention, and academic performance, particularly for girls and children from vulnerable households.
